Exercise and Enrichment

Although Ragdolls are known for their calm personalities, they still enjoy interactive play and mental stimulation. Toys such as teaser wands, balls, tunnels, scratching posts, and puzzle feeders can help keep them entertained and active.

Ragdolls have soft, semi-long coats that are less prone to matting than some long-haired breeds, but regular grooming is still important. Brushing two or three times each week helps remove loose hair, reduce shedding, and keep their coat smooth and healthy.

Extra attention should be given to areas where tangles may develop, such as around the legs, chest, and tail. Routine nail trimming, ear cleaning, and dental care should also be included in their grooming routine to support overall health.

Veterinary Care

Routine veterinary visits play an important role in maintaining your Ragdoll’s health throughout life. Regular wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and dental checkups help detect potential issues early and keep your cat in excellent condition.

Because Ragdolls can be predisposed to certain hereditary conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), working with a trusted veterinarian and maintaining regular health screenings is highly recommended. Spaying or neutering is also encouraged unless part of a responsible breeding program.

Litter Box Care

Ragdolls are naturally clean cats and appreciate a fresh, well-maintained litter area. A spacious litter box with low dust, unscented litter is often preferred. Scooping daily and fully cleaning the litter box regularly helps maintain hygiene and encourages consistent litter habits.

In homes with multiple cats, having more than one litter box available can help reduce stress and provide added comfort.

Ragdolls are affectionate and people-oriented cats that form strong bonds with their families. They enjoy attention and companionship and generally do best in homes where they receive regular interaction and affection.
